CESNID Foundation
The CESNID Foundation was born in 1993 with the objective of creating a high education center that would hold studies in nutrition and dietetics. This initiative came from University of Barcelona, led by Dr. Pilar Cervera (UB's University School of Nursing), who was also the first director of the Foundation. CESNID's Board of Trustees is comprised of different institutions linked to the health world, as well as various boards and companies of the food sector and several other associations related to nutrition and studies in dietetics.
The Centre for Higher Studies in Nutrition and Dietetics (CESNID) was created as an attached center to the UB and it began to function in 1995 within the Palau de les Heures of the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation (UB). In 1997 it moved its headquarters to a new space in the Food and Nutrition Torribera Campus (owned by Diputació de Barcelona) in Santa Coloma de Gramenet, and soon after it established its operation center in the administration building (La Masia) of this campus. Santa Coloma's City Council then became part of CESNID's Board of Trustees.
The qualifications imparted in CESNID between 1995 and 2006 were the higher degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics and a first-cycle own degree recognized by the University of Barcelona. Once the Ministry had established the bachelor's degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics, CESNID started its teachings in the academic year 2006-2007.
During the course 2008-2009 CESNID began its process of detachment from the UB. Its degree studies were gradually transferred to the UB's Faculty of Pharmacy, in an integration process of the teaching staff and the AdSS to the UB structure that ended in 2011. In 2006, Dr. Rosaura Farré replaced Mrs. Cervera in the Foundation's Direction until the year 2009, when CESNID ceased its activity.
Besides the studies in Human Nutrition and Dietetics, the Foundation has held activities aimed to train professionals, provide services to the sector, the publishing of books and other material and also the consulting about issues related to the nutrition and dietetics fields.
As of today, CESNID Foundation finds itself involved in a remodeling process in order to adapt to the new reality of the Food and Nutrition Torribera Campus.

Appointment of the Campus Director. Coordination with the Faculty of Pharmacy for the moving of the teaching and investigation staff to Torribera spaces. Activation of the teaching laboratories in Marina building. New naming of the UB buildings. Management, with Diputació de Barcelona, of the lecture building. Dialogue with Secretaria General d’Universitats i Recerca in order to warrant the viability of the project. UB's positioning in the Gastronomic Sciences by means of the Torribera Campus.
