Antoni Vallano

Antonio Vallano graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the Universitat de Barcelona (1985). He obtained his Ph.D in 1992, at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona under the supervision of Prof. J.M. Arnau. He has a master’s degree in Health Economy and Medication at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (2009). He is specialist in Clinical Pharmacology (training at the Vall d’Hebron University Hospital 1987-1991; Barcelona) and worked as a Clinical Pharmacologist in the Hospital Universitari Vall d'Hebron from 1992 to 2007 (Clinical Pharmacology Service and Catalan Institute of Pharmacology). In 1993 he joined the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona as an Assistant Professor. His work was focused on pharmacoepidemiology in general (drug utilization studies, pharmacovigilance and clinical trials) and the epidemiological study of the prevalence and treatment of pain in particular. In 2007 he moved to the Clinical Pharmacology Service in Bellvitge University Hospital, and to join the Department of Pathology and Experimental Therapeutics at the Universitat de Barcelona as an Assistant Professor of Pharmacology. In 2008 he joined to the Neuropharmacology and Pain Research Group. Currently, his research work is focused on generating a link between the molecular and the clinical research.
