Sebastià Videla
CLINICAL INVESTIGATOR
Sebastià Videla Cés, MD PhD, with a background in Clinical and Basic Pharmacology, in Drug Development and Translational Research in private and public organizations. He was graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (1987). He obtained his PhD in 1995, at the Autonomous University of Barcelona under the supervision of Prof. J. Vilaseca and Prof. F. Jané, from the Internal Medicine and Pharmacology Department, respectively.
He started his professional career in the Clinical Pharmacology Department of the Santa Creu i Sant Pau Hospital as Junior Investigator. He moved to the Digestive Diseases Department of the Vall d’Hebron Hospital with a grant from “Introduction to Research Program” funded by the “Fondos de Investigaciones Sanitarias de la Seguridad Social (FISss)”, working in translational research as basic and clinical pharmacologist and developing his PhD. He maintained his collaboration as advisor up to 2007. In the last two decades, he has worked in the Pharmaceutical Industry (Laboratorios J. Uriach&Cía, Vita and ESTEVE) as clinical pharmacologist in drug development (being responsible of the phase I-IV, including design, operational and regulatory aspects. He has been the person in charge for obtaining 2 marketed authorizations (an antifungal and a pain killer).
Currently (from October 2017), he develops his professional activity as Head of Clinical Research Support Unit, Department of Clinical Pharmacology, Bellvitge University Hospital and Head of Clinical Research-IDIBELL (Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute). Likewise, he joined to the Neuropharmacology and Pain Research Group.
He has published more than 130 original research articles in peer-reviewed journals (80% in English), with an overall impact factor over 400, more than 200 abstracts and communications to scientific Congresses, speaker in 15 scientific congresses, editor of three books and author of several chapters in eight books, director of eight doctoral thesis, collaboration in four doctoral thesis, associated professor in Pompeu Fabra University (Faculty of Medicine), professor in 50 medical scientific courses (including Good Clinical Practice) and recipient of twelve scientific awards.
