Alex Fernández Solanas studied Dentistry and Pharmacy at the Universitat de Barcelona, obtaining his graduation in 1993 and 2003, respectively. He joined the Department of Pharmacology and Chemical Therapeutics (Department of Pathology and Experimental Therapeutics nowadays) in 1995, where he develops his activity as Assistant Professor. His activity at the University is focused on teaching Pharmacology in the degree of Dentistry, Medicine and Podiatry. He has been involved in the development and accomplishment of several clinical assays to evaluate the effectiveness of different anti-inflammatory drugs in the relief of pain and swelling after the extraction of the third molar and has also participated in the study of cariostatic agents in a mice model. He has developed his private practice as a dentist at the Hospital General de Catalunya since 1993.
