Víctor Fernández-Dueñas studied Chemistry and Biochemistry at the Universitat de Barcelona. He obtained his Ph.D. in 2004, at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, under the supervision of Drs. Margarita Puig and Olga Pol. His Ph.D. work, performed at the Institut Municipal d'Investigació Mèdica de Barcelona, consisted of studying opioid tolerance in a model of peripheral inflammation in mice. To continue his work he joined the laboratory of Dr. Eulàlia Planas at the Universitat de Barcelona, focused on the study of drug interactions in the treatment of pain. He later joined (2008) to Dr. Francisco Ciruela on the creation of the Neuropharmacology and Pain Research Group. In 2012, he held a postdoctoral fellowship at the Institut de Genomique Fonctionnelle (Montpellier, France), where he collaborated with Drs. Thierry Durroux and Jean-Philippe Pin on elucidating D2R-A2AR oligomerization in experimental Parkinsonism. He currently holds a position as Associate Professor of Pharmacology, at the School of Medicine of the Universitat de Barcelona. Dr. Fernández-Dueñas leads the projects related to the study of novel approaches for an effective and safe treatment of pain and actively collaborates on the projects studying neurological and neuropshychiatric diseases, such as Parkinson's disease or schizophrenia.
