Sílvia Sánchez

Sílvia Sánchez González studied Pharmacy at the Universitat de Barcelona. She obtained her Ph.D. in 1981, at the Universitat de Barcelona, under the supervision of Drs. Francisco Garcia-Valdecasas and Mª Eulàlia Planas. Throughout her research career at the School of Medicine of the Universitat de Barcelona between 1977 and 1989, she worked in three areas: action of drugs on the nervous system (the subject of her PhD), study of opioid receptors in human tissues and evaluation of the reactivity of human umbilical vessels. In 1990, she joined the School of Dentistry of the Universitat de Barcelona, and focused her research in the study of the actions and interactions of anti-inflammatory drugs and analgesics in both animal models and human clinical trials. She joined the Neuropharmacology and Pain Research Group in 2008. She currently holds a position as Assistant Professor of Pharmacology at the Department of Pathology and Experimental Therapeutics at the School of Medicine of the Universitat de Barcelona. Since 2008 she is the Dean of School of Dentistry. She retired in September 2017.
