Mariano Martín Zamorano holds a PhD in Culture and Heritage Management from the University of Barcelona (UB). His thesis, “The dispute over external representation in contemporary cultural policies: the case of the cultural paradiplomacy of Catalonia”, received the Cum laude and the International Mention (2015). He holds a Master in Cultural Management (UB), a Bachelor and a Professor´s degree in Visual Arts from the National University of Cuyo, Argentina, and he also studied a Bachelor´s Degree in Art History at the same University. He is currently pursuing degree studies in Social Sciences at the Open University of Catalonia (UOC).
 
Throughout his career, he has obtained four individual research grants. In 2010 he received a grant/contract for Training of Predoctoral Researchers (APIF-UB), which facilitated his PhD completion.
 
Zamorano is specialized in public cultural policies at both national and international levels and has several publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals, books and book chapters in these fields. He has more than ten years of experience in the design, coordination and development of scientific projects, participating in more than twelve funded scientific investigations. These projects have been funded by the National University of Cuyo, the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for Development (AECID), the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) and the European Commission (H2020), among other institutions.
 
Zamorano has been Visiting Scholar at the Department of Arts Administration, Education and Policy of the Ohio State University (2012), Associate Professor at the UB (2017), and he currently teaches at three different postgraduate programs in cultural diplomacy, policies and management for the UOC and the UB (together with the OIT and UNESCO). Presently, he also holds a postdoc position in the EU project (H2020) UNCHARTED as part of the UB research team taking part in its consortium. Since 2010, he is a member of the Center for the Study of Culture, Politics and Society (CECUPS).
