Chiara Lacava, from the SAFE group of the House of Finance of Goethe University in Frankfurt, presents her latest scientific contributions at the AQR seminar series.
Chiara Lacava is this month invited speaker to the lunch seminar series of the AQR group, presenting her latest contributions to labour economics in a study centered on the impact of migration on macroeconomic aggregates such as output, unemployment and productivity, focusing her efforts on the comparison between the South and the North of Italy.
Employing an empyrical search matching model which encompasses heterogeneous firms and labour, Chiara finds out that large migration flows from south to north appear to have a positive effect on both macro-regions, bolstering both employment rates and output at the cost of a crowding-out effect in the northern labour force.
