Carles Mendez Ortega, from the QURE & CREIP groups of the Department of Economics of the Rovira i Virgili University, presents his latest piece of original research at the AQR seminar series.
Carles Mendez Ortega is April’s invited speaker to the lunch seminar series of the AQR group, presenting his contributions to uncovering economic determinants of spatial positioning of the videogame industry in a study describing the weight of neighbourhood caracteristics on industrial concentration in the city of Barcelona.
Employing Count Data Models and focusing on indicators such as amenities, diversity, human capital and security, Carles finds out that spatial spillovers effect are key in high-tech industrial placement in the videogame industry and that high diversity and good high-tech amenities represent one of the main determinants of the current urban localization of the entertainment software industry.
