This research line involves the archaeological research of ancient and medieval cities such as Clunia (Peñalba de Castro, Burgos), Pollentia (Alcúdia, Mallorca), Olèrdola (Barcelona), Barcelona and the understanding of the transformation (social, economic, etc.) of the suburbia of the Late Antique city. Acknowledging all transformation processes of the Roman city into Late Antic city. The study on urban transformations alongside the Iberian peninsula and the Balearic Islands has generated considerable data and knowledge already. The transformations of Christianity, the reuse (upcycling) of materials during late antiquity, or the transformation with the arrival of Visigoths have been main subjects of attention within our research group including specific cases such as Toledo, Recópolis and Barcelona.
