Barcelona Board of Trade
Studies Fostered by the Junta de Comerç of Barcelona, Antoni Reynés (1884), in the Paranymph Hall.
The Board of Trade, set up in Barcelona in 1758, encouraged domestic and foreign commerce, particularly to America, and promoted schools providing technical education, such as Nautical Studies, Design and Botany. It took on a very important role in the educational life of the city while the University of Barcelona was exiled to Cervera and, in general, led Catalan commercial and industrial activity.
