The Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness awards the TERES Project leaded by Drs. Vicente Royuela and Raul Ramos, AQR members.
The impact of the Great Recession in the Spanish economy has been huge. This sudden and substantial shock has had a differentiated impact across the Spanish regions, particularly when compared to other European regions.
The TERES project, financed by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness during three years, takes as a starting point the recent literature on resilience (the capacity to recover resist and/or quickly from external shocks, even improving its situation from the pre-shock status) in order to identify the factors that have helped regions to mitigate the impacts of shocks and to adapt to the new global environment. TERES responds to the challenges of Spanish society through the development of a battery of applied economics studies using advanced techniques and extensive databases to identify robustly and consistently the resilience factors of the Spanish regions.
AQR members in the project team are Vicente Royuela (PI), Raul Ramos (PI), David Castells (FUAB and AQR), Oscar Claveria, Antonio di Paolo, Alessia Matano, Sandra Nieto (FUOC and AQR) and Jordi Suriñach. Begoña Cueto (U. Oviedo), Matias Mayor (U. Oviedo) and Patria Suárez (U. Oviedo) complete the team.
