Albert Pujol, Rector of the UB in 1837
Portrait of Rector Albert Pujol Gurena, a work by Armand Miravalls Bové (1916-1977), installed in the Rectors' Portrait Gallery.
Albert Pujol Gurena, a specialist in Canon Law, was appointed Rector of the University of Barcelona in 1837, when the process of re-establishing the University in the city began. The portrait was not painted, however, until the time of Rector Fabià Estapé (Rector of the UB during two periods: 1969-1971 and 1974-1976), who commissioned it from the painter Armand Miravalls, lecturer at the Sant Jordi Fine Arts Higher Education College.
