Arms of the King Charles I of Spain
Stone shield with the arms of the King Charles I currently on display in the Paranymph Hall gallery in the Historic Building of the University of Barcelona.
This shield is the only preserved piece of the Estudi General building, constructed in the so-called Rambla dels Estudis in 1536, during the reign of King Charles I of Spain. The shield, which presided over the main entrance of the building, was preserved by the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Barcelona and deposited at the City History Museum. It was installed in the Paranymph Hall Gallery in 1989.
