The
Manual of Habitats of Catalonia aims to divulge the existence, the definition and description of more than 600 units of the List of habitats in Catalonia. This list is the adaptation of the
CORINE Biotopes Manual to the Catalan region. The Manual is the result of collaboration between the
Department of Planning and Sustainability of the Generalitat of Catalonia and the Research Group of Phytogeography and Vegetation Mapping at the University of Barcelona. The first edition was published between 2005 and 2008, and in 2013 was added to the collection the
Manual of Coastal Habitats in Catalonia, conducted by the Blanes Centre for Advanced Studies (
CEAB - CSIC). Furthermore, in 2006 was published the
Interpretation Manual of the Map of Catalan Habitats 1:50,000, reprinted in 2014 in order to adapt to the second version of these maps.
In 2015 began the publication of the
second edition of the Manual of habitats. In this new edition have been reviewed and updated the contents of the previous version (new maps, new indicators of the interest of conservation, correspondence with the European
EUNIS habitat classification...) and we have added a few habitats observed or described in recent years.
