Isabel Clúa, researcher at the Centre Dona i Literatura, has just published a new critical edition with notes and comments of Navegar pintoresco (Stockcero, 2014), by José María Llanas Aguilaniedo. The novel, published in 1903, deals with a protagonist, Álvaro Pacheco, who suffers from the ills and pathologies which were characteristic of the fin-de-siècle subject in crisis, and it also abounds in images of the decadent aesthetic of the period. This edition by Isabel Clúa includes an introduction which links the novel with Aguilaniedo's other works and with the cultural discourses of the period, in order to shed light on its most essential aspects.
