Closing Ceremony Academic Year 22-23

Danez Smith: A Conversation

The closing ceremony for academic year 22-23 will be conducted by Danez Smith, a poet who has received multiple accolades in their career and that is among the most celebrated voices in contemporary US literature. Smith uses their innovative style and electric verse as an attempt to dismantle the systems of oppression that cross racialized, queer bodies, in an attempt to give shape to a new world. The ceremony will be a conversation with Smith, chaired by Elisabeth Massana and Cristina Alsina Rísquez, in which Smith will read some of their poetry.

The conversation will be conducted in English (without translation) and it will be invitation-only.
