Arturo Rodríguez Morató
Arturo Rodríguez Morató is Full Professor of Sociology and director of CECUPS at the University of Barcelona. He holds a PhD in Sociology and a Bachelor in Economics from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. His specialty is the sociology of culture and the arts. He has been Visiting Scholar at the New School for Social Research (2013 and 1997), the University of Cambridge (2005) and the University of Exeter (2002), the Maison des Sciences de l'Homme (2012) and the E.H.E.S.S. (1987). Over the years, he has held numerous responsibilities in different academic organizations and organized multiple conferences and congresses. He has been a member of the Scientific Committee of the International Conferences on Cultural Policy Research since 2014, Associate Editor of Sociopedia.isa (2009-2015), Coordinator of the UB Doctorate Program in Sociology (2010-2012), member of the Board of the Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas (2010-2012), Vice President for Research of the International Sociological Association (2006-2010) and President of its Research Committee on Sociology of the Arts (1998-2002), Vice President of the Spanish Federation of Sociology (2010- 2013) and Coordinator of its Research Committee on Sociology of Culture and the Arts (1998-2015). He has also been Director of the Seventh International Conference on Cultural Policy Research (Barcelona, 2012) and of the I ISA Forum of Sociology (Barcelona, 2008).
Arturo Rodríguez Morató has carried out numerous researches on artistic professions and markets, culture and territory, cultural policy, heritage and cultural identities. Among the funded projects he has directed are the following: CulturalBase: Social Platform on Cultural Heritage and European Identities (European Commission, Horizon 2020 Program, 2015-17), The system of cultural policy in Spain (Ministry of Science and Innovation, 2009 -11), Public subsidies in performing arts in Spain: economic volume, decision models and effectiveness of the objectives (Spanish Network of Theaters, Auditoriums, Circuits and Festivals of Public Ownership, 2006 - 07), The cultural policy system in Catalonia (Fundació Bofill, 2002-03), Barcelona's cultural dynamics (Barcelona City Council-Diputación de Barcelona-Fundación Autor, 1998-02), The social condition of the composer and the contemporary music market in Spain (SGAE, 1990- 92) and The Sociology of Culture in France (CIRIT, 1987).
