Forecast growth is expected for 2021

The Barcelona Chamber of Commerce and the Applied Economics Laboratory (AQR-Lab) of the University of Barcelona present the report on the situation for the second quarter of 2021.
It is estimated that the Catalan economy will leave behind the stagnation of the last two quarters, thus the growth forecasts for 2021 -from 6.0% to 6.3% - and 2022 -from 6.1% to 6, are revised upwards. 7%; mainly driven by the easing of restrictions and increased demand.
These improvements will also have an effect on the labor market, thus it is considered that in terms of unemployment, in 2021 it will close at 13.3% (two tenths less than previously expected). By 2022, the recovery of employment will continue and the proportion of unemployment in Catalonia will drop to 12.5%; below pre-Covid levels.
