Kitsch, Cursi, Camp and Trans* in Ibero-American Literature and Arts
The “Mujeres y culturas” series publishes Kitsch, cursi, camp y trans* en la literatura y las artes iberoamericanas (Icaria, 2023), a volume edited by Jordi Medel-Bao (Université Lyon 2), which explores the development of “tropical kitsch” in Latin America since the 1970s, as well as trans/queer perspectives and the embodiment of identities in characters that undergo transformations into possible and infinite becomings. The book includes chapters on concepts such as transkitsch, neokitsch, chicha power, muxe-camp, or trans*, and analyzes the creative proposals of Pedro Lemebel, Eduardo Mendicutti, Bruno Cimiano, or Raquel Freire. Contributors include, among others, Helena González Fernández (ADHUC-Universitat de Barcelona), Meri Torras (Cos i Textualitat-Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona), Ángeles Mateo del Pino (Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria), Lionel Souquet (Université de Bretagne Occidentale), and Adriana Churampi Ramírez (Universiteit Leiden). This book is published in print and digital edition.
