Katarzyna Paszkiewicz

Katarzyna PASZKIEWICZ is Associate Professor in English and Film Studies at the University of the Balearic Islands and researcher with ADHUC – Research Center for Theory, Gender, Sexuality (University of Barcelona). Her current research explores ecologically oriented film theory, videographic ecocriticism, as well as questions of embodiment, affect, and the senses in film studies. She has conducted research stays at the University of Pennsylvania, University of Melbourne, University College Dublin, Laboratoire d’études de genre et de sexualité-LEGS (CNRS, U. Paris 8), and at Harvard University. She is currently a member of the Steering Committee of the international research project Female Filmmakers and Feminism in the Media (FEMME), funded by the French National Research Agency – ANR, constituted of 15 scholars in British, French and US-American film and television studies, from six European universities (Le Mans U., Toulouse Jean Jaurès U., U. Paul-Valéry Montpellier, U. of Exeter, U. of the Balearic Islands, U. of Warwick), and one private partner (Les ateliers du féminisme populaire). The project’s main ambitions are to stimulate research on women in film and television and to engage in dialogue with industry players in order to further the cause of gender equality.
