Clarice Lispector: When Words Take the Bait
BB Collaborate
How has the reception of Clarice Lispector's work changed since Hélène Cixous offered her readings of it until now? What is meant when it is said that Lispector's work is inscrutable? What do the recent translations of Lispector into Catalan and Spanish have to offer? Which obstacles do Lispector's texts pose for a translator? Having a conversation with a translator is always a good opportunity to discuss a writer's work and poetics with one of its most attentive readers. With these ideas in mind, we have invited Elena Losada (ADHUC-Universitat de Barcelona), with whom we will have a conversation titled: "Clarice Lispector: Quan la paraula mossega l'esquer". Losada, who has authored a great many translations and articles on the Brasilian writer, will be answering these questions and will be suggesting readings for those wishing to dive into Lispector's work. This activity is part of Cicle No només Clarice Lispector organized by the Galician and Portuguese Department at the University of Barcelona, with the collaboration of Càtedra UNESCO Dones, desenvolupament i cultures, and ADHUC.
