Monasterio de Sta. María la Real de Las Huelgas

The nunnery of Santa Maria la Real de las Huelgas was founded in 1189 by King Alfonso VIII of Castile and his wife Leonor Plantagenet. This subproject aims to visualize the spaces of the nunnery in relation to their performative dimension, as well as the role of royal families in their configuration. We will display the different phases of construction, and we will recreate some of the processions that took place inside, especially those related to the funeral liturgy and included in the Codex Las Huelgas.
