Sant Antoni i Santa Clara de Barcelona
The nunnery of Sant Antoni i Santa Clara in Barcelona was founded in 1236, and became a Benedictine community in 1513. The archive of the nunnery contains comprehensive inventories (both from the period of the Poor Clares, 13th-15th c., and from the Benedictine period, 16th c.) that allow for a diachronic analysis of the objects held therewith, for which we have, in many cases, information about their use. This project involves the development of a database that allow us to reconstruct the inner functional and material topography of the nunnery. We seek to visualize these objects in their spatial and performative context. In a first stage, we will focus on books, and during a second stage we will explore the textiles.
