This Erasmus BIP will offer 3 ECTS through the Erasmus mobility program and the University of Barcelona Faculty of Genetics and Genomics Master’s degree track. The course plan is to start in the winter semester (November-December 2024 for the first year, though the course is pre-approved for 2 years) with a virtual modality of online sessions and a one-week intensive program in Barcelona, which will take place on the 9-13^th of December 2024

Introduction to Neurogenetics

Nervous system development

In vitromodels and organoids

State of the art research: selected scientific papers

Intensive in-person:

Research seminars on:

-          Neurodevelopment

-          Psychiatric disorders

-          Neurodegenerative disorders

-          Neurodepelopmental and neurological disorders

Scientific Poster session and discussion

The seminars will be given by researchers in the field of Neurogenetics and will address different approaches: single-cell sequencing, genomic and epigenomic studies, IPSCs and organoids, animal models, etc. The course will give a broad perspective on the state of research in this field and how different genetic and genomic tools, and the use of models can help to understand both the functioning of the nervous system and the underlying causes of various disorders. Students will have the opportunity to engage in research and scientific discussions, and relate concepts from other fields to the study of the nervous system and its pathology.
