I work in resolving the phylogeny of chelicerates and their terrestrialization processes using a phylogenomic approach

• Trophic ecology, Population ecology, Ecophysiology, Marine Mammals, Interaction with Fisheries • Research line focused on trophic ecology studies on marine mammals using, among other techniques, the stable isotope analysis to estimate trophic position and trophic niche diversity, diet diversity, predator plasticity and evaluate the variations of these parameters to different temporary scales and in different scenarios that include competition with fishing and environmental variability among others

Arthropod systematics and evolution

My research centers on understanding the response of aquatic food webs to global climate crisis and other environmental perturbations (e.g., eutrophication, salinization, microplastics), using approaches ranging from mesocosm experiments to biodiversity monitoring to investigate trophic interactions, energy transfer, ecosystem functioning and health.

Population genetics and genomics; phylogeography. Comparative Genomics and Molecular Evolution. Bioinformatics.

Anthropology. Genetics of human populations. Current human diversity and applications in epidemiology.

Currently, I'm studying the coexpression of cardiogenetic markers to understand the impact of gene loss in the evolution of  regulatory gene networks of cardiac and axial muscle development in O. dioica.

Phylogenetic and population genetics studies of bacteria and in particular those of interest in the field of Health.

Trying to understand the biological buffer systems of marine invertebrates that calcify to cope with the rapid environmental changes expected in the predicted global ocean acidification and warming scenario by applying genomics, transcriptomics, and metagenomics, along with metabolic ecology.

My research consists of the application of CRISPR technology in different organisms such as Oikopleura dioica and Blattella germanica to obtain the insertion of reporter genes into the genome that allow us to understand the gene networks involved in the development of different structures.

Study of the Mediterranean habitat-forming marine species populations under the global warming effects, and engage citizen science to produce new knowledge for science and society.

My research is focused on river ecology. I work to promote environmental volunteering and citizen science related to river ecosystems and give value to the data generated from the public at the level of management and conservation of Mediterranean rivers.

We are interested to understand the mechanisms underlying genomic evolution and adaptation, from individual genes and gene families in the arthropoda group using NGS data

Charmed with marine biology, currently I'm studying the adaptive processes of the invasive species Styela plicata. From the reference genome construction to the bacterial community structure, we want to see how this species is available to colonize new habitats.

The general objective of this research focuses on the adaptations of Antarctic and sub-Antarctic dipterans (Chironomidae) to environmental changes through the study of possible changes in phenology, thermal physiology and distribution, and how these organisms can be sentinels of climate change.
