BOTÀNICA COMPARTIDA I CREACIÓ COL·LABORATIVA A LES HORTES DE BAIX DE CALDES DE MONTBUI. L’HORT: IDENTITAT, DIVERSITAT I MEMÒRIA DEL PATRIMONI CULTURAL

Artistes i botànics de la Universitat de Barcelona i l’Institut Botànic de Barcelona, vam proposar un espai temporal i participatiu amb ciutadania activa: Botànica compartida i creació col·laborativa a les Hortes de Baix de Caldes Montbui, el 15 de juny de 2024. S’hi van plantejar qüestions botàniques, etnobotàniques, socials, culturals i artístiques, per a experimentar com la creativitat pot millorar la consciència ecològica, promoure el cultiu sostenible i prioritzar la qualitat per sobre de la quantitat i el consum excessiu. Del 14 al 23 de març de 2025, s’exposarà l’obra fotogràfica realitzada conjuntament per l’artista Jo Milne i els participants del taller, a la Sala Delger de Caldes de Montbui.

El taller i l’exposició s’inscriuen en el marc del projecte europeu Tilling Roots and Seeds: biodiversity crisis and a better future for agriculture (Llauar arrels i llavors: crisi de la biodiversitat i un futur millor per a l’agricultura), un projecte de cooperació internacional desenvolupat per Ars Electronica, Kilowatt, la Universitat de Barcelona i Quo Artis com a soci principal. El projecte busca enfortir la col·laboració cultural europea i, alhora, promoure la recerca i les pràctiques artístiques centrades en els desafiaments interconnectats de la pèrdua de biodiversitat vegetal i els sistemes alimentaris sostenibles a Europa. Posa èmfasi en el paper de l'art com a mitjà potent per fomentar la consciència crítica sobre el canvi climàtic, en particular en destacar l'impacte de les activitats humanes, en particular els patrons actuals de producció i consum d'aliments.

SHARED BOTANY AND COLLABORATIVE CREATION IN THE ALLOTMENTS (Caldes de Montbui). THE GARDEN: IDENTITY, DIVERSITY AND MEMORY OF CULTURAL HERITAGE

Artists and botanists from the University of Barcelona and the Botanical Institute of Barcelona, proposed a temporary and participatory space with active citizenship: Shared Botany and Collaborative Creation at the Hortes de Baix (Caldes de Montbui), on June 15, 2024. Botanical, ethnobotanical, social, cultural and artistic questions were raised, to experiment how creativity can improve ecological awareness, promote sustainable cultivation and prioritize quality over quantity and excessive consumption. From 14 March to 23 March 2025, the photographic work jointly produced by artist Jo Milne and the workshop participants was exhibited at the Delger Hall in Caldes de Montbui.

This activity is part of the European project "Tilling Roots and Seeds: Biodiversity Crisis and a Better Future for Agriculture," an international cooperation project developed by Ars Electronica, Kilowatt, University of Barcelona, and Quo Artis as the main partner (https://tillingrootsandseeds.eu).

The project seeks to strengthen European cultural collaboration while advancing research and artistic practices focused on the interconnected challenges of plant biodiversity loss and sustainable food systems in Europe. It emphasizes the role of art as a powerful medium for fostering critical awareness of climate change, particularly by highlighting the impact of human activities—most notably, current food production and consumption patterns.
