The UB Solidarity Foundation was created in 1996, at the initiative of the Món-3 Foundation and the University of Barcelona, with the aim of applying the policy of university cooperation to development, and thus promoting human rights and 'social action from the University, within the framework of the actions of responsibility it has towards society. To this end, the UB Solidarity Foundation promotes, supports and carries out various initiatives, such as projects and programs, aimed at expanding and strengthening development cooperation, especially in the field of inter-university relations. The Foundation also promotes human rights, in different ways: implementing actions on the ground in collaboration with local individuals or institutions, creating dissemination instruments - such as the Solidarity Observatory - or working on education for global citizenship . In addition, it organizes activities to guide the university community towards social volunteering, thus contributing to their global human formation in the values of solidarity and commitment to others.
