Isabel Verdaguer
Isabel Verdaguer is Senior Lecturer in the English Department of the University of Barcelona. She studied in the Universities of Barcelona and Reading, and received her Ph.D. from the University of Barcelona. She has been a visiting researcher in the university of Birmingham and the Université catholique de Louvain, and has delivered invited lectures and seminars at the universities of Düsseldorf, Politécnica de Valencia and Göteborg. She has done extensive research and published numerous articles on the history of translation, contrastive linguistics, corpus linguistics and lexicology. She is on the editorial board of SELIM and has been on the board of Atlantis, BELLS, and the Journal of the Spanish Society for English Renaissance Studies. She has coordinated several research projects -the present one consists in the building of a lexical database of non-specialised terms used in scientific English- and participates in the international project VESPA (Varieties of English for Specific Purposes dAtabase).
