UB‒Hospital Clínic‒AstraZeneca Chair on Lung Cancer
This chair was created to promote knowledge transfer in the field of lung cancer, with a view to increasing understanding of the disease among students and health sciences professionals to improve patient welfare.

The chair will be fundamentally responsible for theoretical and practical teaching activities, as well as specific training in clinical and translational research. Our work will be carried out in the following core areas:
Lifelong learning activities
- Master’s degree in Advanced Medical Skills, in the specialization Diagnosis and Treatment of Lung Cancer.
- Practical seminars on prevention, diagnosis and treatment in lung cancer for resident physicians specializing in oncology and pulmonology.
- Basic training courses in molecular oncology for medicine and health sciences students.
- Training and refresher courses on clinical oncology in lung cancer for health sciences professionals.
Basic practical training
- Organization of practical activities leading to the award of free-elective credits for medicine and health sciences students in services of the Functional Unit for Thoracic Tumours.
Advanced practical training
- Short preceptorships for lung cancer specialists in the different services of the Functional Unit for Thoracic Tumours.
Scientific conferences
- Organization of the Annual Lung Cancer Conference of the Functional Unit for Thoracic Tumours at the Hospital Clínic.
- Promotion of new annual conferences on multidisciplinary treatment of lung cancer and other thoracic tumours.
Social actions
- Organization of talks for patients and relatives on education and healthcare in the field of lung cancer, in collaboration with public and private social organizations.
