UB-COIB Chair in Nursing
The UB-COIB Chair in Nursing is the result of a partnership between the University of Barcelona and the Official College of Nurses of Barcelona (Col·legi Oficial d’Infermeres i Infermers de Barcelona, COIB) to promote research, training and knowledge transfer in the field of nursing and organize activities to highlight nurses’ contributions to people’s health.

Chair objectives
- Facilitate advisory work by Nursing School teaching staff for the COIB.
- Promote research projects in the various areas of nursing aligned with the needs of people and society, as well projects to showcase the value of the nursing profession.
- Promote and foster among young graduates an interest in research in the field of nursing in order to enhance care for individuals, families and the community at large through the UB-COIB Chair in Nursing awards for the best bachelor’s degree final project, master’s degree final project, and doctoral thesis.
- Promote scientific and research debate through conferences and congresses.
- Disseminate research results through publications and other communication actions.
- Organize and collaborate on lifelong learning activities for the technical, scientific and humanistic improvement of the profession.
- Organize activities to highlight nurses’ contributions to people’s health through colloquia, exhibitions, seminars and talks for patients and their families.
- Award a UB-COIB Chair in Nursing prize for outreach in the field of nursing.
Team
A nurse with a PhD in Nursing Science, Marta Romero García is head of the Department of Fundamental Care and Medical-Surgical Nursing at the School of Nursing. She is a senior lecturer at the University of Barcelona and coordinator of the university master’s degree in Leadership and Management in Nursing. She is also a researcher in the Nursing Research Group at the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (GRIN-IDIBELL) and the IC-HU Project international research group, as well as the principal investigator for various competitive research projects. A nurse and statistician, Llúcia Benito Aracil is the academic coordinator of the university master’s degree in Advanced Nursing Clinical Practice. She holds a PhD in Nursing Science and is a senior lecturer at the University of Barcelona. She is also a researcher in the Nursing Research Group at the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (GRIN-IDIBELL). ORCID 0000-0002-9956-3633
A nurse with a PhD in Nursing Science, Pilar Delgado Hito is Vice-Rector for Academic Policy and Quality at the University of Barcelona. She is a senior lecturer in the Department of Fundamental Care and Medical-Surgical Nursing at the Nursing School and the academic coordinator of the university master’s degree in Leadership and Management in Nursing. She is also a researcher in the Nursing Research Group at the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (GRIN-IDIBELL) and the IC-HU Project international research group, as well as the principal investigator for various competitive research projects. A nurse and an anthropologist with a PhD in Nursing Science, Paola Galbany Estragués is a tenured lecturer at the University of Vic-Central University of Catalonia (UVic-UCC). She participates in various research groups in the fields of social sciences, humanities and health sciences. Since receiving a postdoctoral fellowship to the Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing at the University of Toronto (2015-2016), her research interests have included Spanish nurse migration and precarious work conditions. She is also the principal investigator for various competitive research and knowledge transfer projects. Since 2020, she has been president of the Official College of Nurses of Barcelona (COIB). Glòria Jodar Solà is a nurse with a PhD in Nursing Science. She holds master’s degrees in Management of Nursing Services from the University of Barcelona and in Health Service Administration from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). She is an adjunct lecturer at the University of Barcelona. She has published in various scientific journals. She is currently director of the Sant Andreu de la Barca primary care team (EAP), as well head of the Knowledge and Professional Development Area of the Official College of Nurses of Barcelona (COIB) and a member of the Council of Catalan Nurses Associations (CCIIC). She is also the coordinator of Challenge 16 in the Catalan Health Ministry’s Professional Dialogue Forum (FDP), focused on promoting planning and management policies for the nursing profession. A nurse with a PhD in Nursing Science, Mª Carmen Moreno Arroyo is a senior lecturer at the University of Barcelona. She is the academic secretary of the Department of Fundamental Care and Medical-Surgical Nursing and the director of the master’s degree in Nursing Care for Critical Patients. She is a researcher in the Nursing Research Group at the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (GRIN-IDIBELL) and the GIOTEI-UB Teaching Innovation Group. ORCID 000-0002-0421-0289
Mª Antonia Martínez Momblan is a nurse with a PhD in Nursing Science. She is a senior lecturer at the University of Barcelona and coordinates the subjects Clinical Placements I and II for the Department of Fundamental Care and Medical-Surgical Nursing of the Nursing School. She is a member of the Centre for Biomedical Research Networking on Rare Diseases (CIBERER 747) and the ACOPI-UB Consolidated Teaching Innovation Group, as well as the principal investigator for various competitive research projects. Mª Teresa Lluch Canut is a nurse, mental health specialist, and psychologist, as well as a full professor of Psychosocial Nursing and Mental Health. She is the director of the Catalan research network “Mental Health and Addictions Nursing”, which has been recognized by the Catalan government (No. XT2004-0006). She is also a member of the academic and school committees for the Doctoral Programme in Nursing and Health at the Nursing School and of the GIOTEI-UB Consolidated Teaching Innovation Group. A specialist mental health nurse with a PhD, Maria Romeu Labayen is vice-president of the Official College of Nurses of Barcelona (COIB) and an adjunct lecturer in the UB Department of Public Health, Mental Health, and Maternal and Child Health Nursing. She works as a public health nurse at the Catalan Public Health Agency of the Catalan Ministry of Health. She is also a researcher in the AFIN-UAB research group, an interdisciplinary and inter-university group for basic and applied research in the social, human and health sciences. Encarna Gómez Gamboa holds a diploma in Nursing from the EUI del Mar Nursing School and is a specialist in paediatric nursing. She holds a master’s degree in Nursing Administration and Management from the Santa Madrona School of Nursing, a master’s degree in Nursing Sciences from the International University of Catalonia (UIC), and a university master’s degree in Research and Innovation in Nursing Care from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). She is currently pursuing a PhD at the UB and is a temporary lecturer at the Catalan University Quality Assurance Agency (AQU Catalunya). She was awarded grants in the competitive call for the Nursing Intensification Programme under the Strategic Plan for Health Research and Innovation (PERIS) in 2016-2018 and 2019-2020. She has been a member of the Ethical Care Committee (CEA) (2001-2010) and the Clinical Research Ethics Committee (CEIC) (2011-2017). She has also worked as a nurse at Hospital Sant Joan de Déu (since 1993) and been the paediatric nursing member of the Board of Governors of the Official College of Nurses of Barcelona (COIB) since 2020. Noemí Obregón holds a PhD in Nursing Science and is a specialist in obstetrics and gynaecology nursing. She earned her undergraduate degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology and holds a master’s degree in Public and Community Health and a diploma in Hospital Management from the Open University of Catalonia (UOC). She was a senior lecturer at the University of Barcelona School of Nursing from 2008-2019. Her research interests include gender issues, prevention in the field of sexual and reproductive health, and pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum care. She is currently Deputy Director of Nursing at the Parc Taulí Hospital Consortium. ORCID 0000-0001-5855-2498
Mª Ángeles Saz Roy is a specialist paediatric nurse with a PhD in Nursing Science. She is head of the Department of Public Health, Mental Health, and Maternal and Child Health Nursing at the School of Nursing, director of the master’s degree in Paediatric Nursing, and a lecturer at the University of Barcelona. She is also a collaborating member of the AFIN Consolidated Research Group (SGR1971), recognized by the Catalan government, and the ACOPI-UB Consolidated Teaching Innovation Group. A nurse and educator with a PhD in Nursing Science, Victoria Morín Fraile is a senior lecturer on community nursing in the Department of Public Health, Mental Health and Perinatal Nursing at the University of Barcelona, where she also coordinates service learning. She is a researcher in the Learning Environments and Materials (EMA) Consolidated Research Group and various competitive research projects. She coordinates the Consolidated Teaching Innovation Group in Service Learning at the UB and is a member of the GIOTEI-UB Consolidated Teaching Innovation Group. ORCID 0000-0002-7800-8091
Antonio R. Moreno Poyato is a specialist mental health nurse with a PhD in Nursing Science. He is an assistant professor in the Department of Public Health, Mental Health, and Maternal and Child Health Nursing at the University of Barcelona School of Nursing. He is also a researcher and the coordinator of the Mental Health, Psychosocial and Complex Nursing Care Research Group (NURSEARCH) at the UB. ORCID 0000-0002-5700-4315
Miguel Ángel Giménez Lajara is a nurse with a PhD in Health Sciences. He is also an adjunct lecturer in the Department of Fundamental Care and Medical-Surgical Nursing at the UB and vice-president of the Spanish Society of Intensive Care and Coronary Unit Nurses (SEEIUC). He coordinates the Haemodynamics and Arrhythmias Section at Hospital Clínic de Barcelona. His main research interests include computerization of ICU documents, pharmacological treatment prescription, and ICU graphics. He is also a member of the Hospital Clínic Research Committee and of the Board of Governors of the Official College of Nurses of Barcelona (COIB). ORCID 0000-0001-5488-6386
A nurse with a PhD, Francisca Pérez López is the model and theoretical framework coordinator in the Parc Taulí Methodology Area. She had previously been a critical care nurse. A nurse with a PhD from the University of Barcelona, Olga Canet Vélez is head of the Knowledge Area of the Official College of Nurses of Barcelona (COIB) and is accredited in Medical and Health Sciences Research by the Catalan University Quality Assurance Agency (AQU Catalunya). She is also a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Health Sciences, Blanquerna, a member of the Global Health, Gender and Society (GHenderS) research group at Ramon Llull University (URL), and a researcher for the H2020 Viu project and other competitive research projects.
