Presentation
Why was the Chair created? Because minimally invasive surgery (MIS) revolutionized surgical procedures (less aggressive, more successful), and robotic surgery is the essential expression of MIS.
The Chair will:
- oversee the training current and future specialists in robotic surgery through specific teaching programmes; and
- contribute to improving quality of life for surgical patients.
Vision
- To revolutionize the application of robotic surgery by promoting innovation, teaching and research in pursuit of care excellence.
Objectives
- To provide postgraduate training courses in robotic surgery in the following surgical areas: digestive, gynecological, thoracic, urological, otolaryngology.
- To contribute to scientific debate and research in the field of robotic surgery.
- To establish networks with universities and hospitals extensively involved in robotics.
Advantages
- Cross-cutting applicability of robot technology.
- Applicability to oncological and non-oncological diseases.
- Prestige of sector leader in biomedical technology.
- Leading Catalan hospital in the area of robotic surgery.
