Wage dispersion in the EU

Objective To describe the recent evolution of wage dispersion across the EU member states using different labour earnings and inequality measures; To analyse the relationship between wage dispersion and different labour market institutions related to collective bargaining and minimum wages taking into account recent policy reforms; and To evaluate the impact of these reforms on low wage work and the overall income distribution in Europe.
Methodology The analysis is structured in four different stages: 1. Descriptive analysis of labour earnings dispersion 2. Analysis of recent trends in labour market reforms related to collective bargaining and minimum wages 3. Empirical assessment of the effect of labour market institutions on labour earnings inequality 4. Potential implications of labour market reforms on low wage work (atypical employment) and overall inequality trends
