Objective
1. Definition of the analytical problem To give policy insights on which jobs and occupations will be externalized to other economies. To predict the dynamics which may be affecting the employment of skilled over unskilled workers in small economies. To analyze the repercussions of the task-trade on Catalan future economic growth and welfare. 2. Review of the recent literature and methodology To define the correct methodology and level of analysis considering the data availability issues. 3. Proposals To provide a ranking of occupations which may be most affected by offshorability.
Methodology
Definition of Catalan job offshorability based on the Blinder’s ranking. Matching of Blinder Index (817 occupations) with the EPA at the highest disaggregation level, following the CNO. Tentative of merging the categories (493 occupations available for Catalonia). Obtaining the classification and explanation of the results, crossing with other variables of interest, gender, education level, etc.
