Study on the detection of external macroeconomic factors relevant for the analysis of the tourism in Catalonia

Objective Detection and analysis of exogenous economic factors that are determinant of tourism demand in Catalonia considering a prominent sending countries, the most dynamic competitors and also a brief evolutionary analysis and projection according to official statistical and harmonized sources.
Methodology Definition of tourism demand: amount of tourism product that potential consumers are willing to purchase at a price and at a given moment. Measure tourism demand in Catalonia. Different variables are in use: the expense realized in destination (that is equivalent to the income for tourism), the number of visitors or arrivals or the number of overnight stays. Detection of economic factors (external) determinants of touristic demand in Catalonia: the national income of the country, home prices and its comparison in terms of Purchasing Power Parity (PPP), wage restraint, the price on the destination and of substitutive destinations and/or complementary, the cost of transport origin-destination, the exchange rate origin-destination preferences, the cumulative investment, the source-target distance, the extraordinary events of international impact and the lagged dependent variable. Measure the determinant factors of the touristic demand in Catalonia (construction of a data base). Statistical descriptive Analysis of the determinant factors of the touristic demand in Catalonia and its relation with this one.
