Françoise Collin

Obituary

Françoise Collin, one of the most widely recognized francophone feminist thinkers of our time, passed away this past September 1. Cofounder and director of the feminist journal Les Cahiers du Grif, Collin was the author of fiction and numerous philosophical essays, among which her works on Hannah Arendt and Maurice Blanchot are of special note. A collection of some of her work reflecting on the relationship between writing, art and politics can be found in Praxis de la diferencia. Entre libertad y liberación, edited by Marta Segarra and with a postscript by Fina Birulés (col. Mujeres y Culturas, Icaria, 2006). Françoise Collin was a regular collaborator with the GRC (Consolidated Research Group) Creació i Pensament de les Dones, frequently participating in publications, seminars, conferences and other activities organized by the Seminari Filosofia i Gènere and the Centre Dona i Literatura. Given the prominence of her contribution to the fields of feminism and philosophy, her work will continue to be a source of inspiration for future generations.
