After Nothingness: Dialectics and Ideology in Contemporary Japanese Philosophy
The book Después de la nada: dialéctica e ideología en la filosofía japonesa contemporánea (Herder Editorial, 2023), a volume edited by Montserrat Crespín Perales (Seminari Filosofia i Gènere-ADHUC, Universitat de Barcelona) and Fernando Wirtz (Kyoto University), has been published. The work attempts to correct some persistent and underlying biases in the books available in Spanish on Japanese philosophy: methodological nationalism, the criterion in the selection of authors and the categorisation of the transmission of knowledge of figures, schools or texts of contemporary philosophy in Japan. In this way, the valuable contribution of this work is not only to add to the task of projecting Japanese philosophy globally to make it more accessible to the Spanish-speaking reader, but also to contribute to the effort of identifying the contemporary philosophical themes that arise in and from Japan, recovering little-studied authors such as Tsuchida Kyōson, Miki Kiyoshi, Tosaka Jun, Maruyama Masao, Tanaka Mitsu, Karatani Kōjin and Nagasaki Hiroshi, among others. This volume features contributions from leading academics including Seiya Morita (Chuo University), Mayuko Uehara (Kyoto University) and Takahiro Nakajima (University of Tokyo).
