Award

Ignasi Martín Graells, a student of Arabic and Hebrew Studies at the Faculty of Philology and Communication, has won the third edition of the Clara Campoamor Award for the best TFG with a gender perspective for his work entitled But words have power: estudi de l’arabitat diaspòrica anglòfona i queer a la novel·la Guapa de Saleem Haddad, directed by Mònica Rius-Piniés (ADHUC-Universitat de Barcelona and director of the UNESCO Chair in Women, Development and Cultures). Ignasi Martín studies the construction of queer Arab identity in Saleem Haddad's novel in relation to the LGTBIQ+ collective in the contemporary Arab World, establishes the characteristics of Anglophone and queer Arab literature and delimits the main concepts that make up queer Anglophone diasporic Arabness: language, environment, shame and the feeling of belonging.

The award, organized by the Equality Unit of the Universitat de Barcelona, aims to give visibility to research carried out by university students related to gender issues.
