Helena González Fernández, director of ADHUC, receives the Medal of Honor of the Consello da Cultura Galega

The Consello da Cultura Galega, the most important cultural institution in Galicia, has agreed to award its medals of honor to Helena González, director of ADHUC-Centre de Recerca Teoria, Gènere, Sexualitat and professor of Galician and Portuguese Studies at the Universitat de Barcelona; and Luis García Montero, director of the Instituto Cervantes, for their contribution to the promotion of Galician language and culture abroad. This is the second edition of the award, created in 2018.

Helena González Fernández is a corresponding academic of the Academia Galega. Her research revolves around feminist literary criticism, popular culture and the theory of emotions. She has published numerous articles, chapters and books on Galician culture, Brazilian women authors, women writers-witnesses of Franco's and Nazi repression and on the relations between Galician and Catalan culture. Since 2014 she coordinates, with Miriam Mariño, A Saia, digital newspaper library of feminist and LGTBIQ+ publications (co-published by ADHUC / Consello da Cultura Galega). She has been director of the scientific journals Abriu: estudos de textualidade do Brasil, Galicia e Portugal and Lectora: revista de dones i textualitat.
