Mariela Fargas Peñarrocha (ADHUC—Universitat de Barcelona) has coordinated the monography Alternativas. Mujeres, género e historia (Edicions de la Universitat de Barcelona), which offers a didactic approach to the activities carried out by women throughout history, from Antiquité, to Contemporary times, as well as an approach to gender roles. The chapters included analyse sexual desire in ancient Babylone, women's aging in the Middle Ages, reading and the role of nourrishment in Modernity, the sexual division of labour during the industrial era, and the role of women in the construction of a critical consciousness in the 20th century. Collaborators included are, among others, Mireia Comas, Patrícia Martínez, María de los Ángeles Pérez Samper, María-Milagros Rivera Garretas, Rocío da Riva, and Cielo Zaidenwerg. Mariela Fargas and a some of the collaborators will be at the presentation.
