Presentation of the book “Se conoce que usted es ‘Moderna’". Lecturas de la mujer moderna en la colonia hispana de Nueva York (1920-1940), written by María Teresa Vera-Rojas (ADHUC–Universitat de Lleida). The event will be presented by Carmen M. Méndez García (Universidad Complutense de Madrid) and Lilian Pallares (writter and artist), who will converse with the author of the book. In this work the author addresses the ways of subjectivizing which intervene in the experiences of feminity of women in the Hispanic colony in New York, focusing on advertising, feminine pages, and letters from women readers published in the weekly publication Gráfico, the newspaper La Prensa and the cultural magazine Artes y Letras.
