The first volume of the Col·lecció CRIC from Edicions de la Universitat de Barcelona, Violència i Identitat, has been published. The volume, edited by Francesco Ardolino (CRIC—Universitat de Barcelona) and Elena Losada (ADHUC—Universitat de Barcelona), includes essays written by specialists in literary criticism and cultural studies that analyse the ties that bind violence and identities, looking both at the victims and the different figurations that violence can take in stories from Bluebeard to Fifty Shades of Grey, from noir Catalan narratives by women to the works of Syrian authors, and studying authors as diverse as Jean Améry, Ryszard Kapuscinski, Herta Müller, Isabella Santacroce and debbie tucker green, among others. Violència i Identitat maps out violence and identity - the latter as a function of the former - and follows a suggestive number of roads from one point to the other.
