María Xesús Lama, researcher at the Research Centre ADHUC - Theory, Gender and Sexuality, is the author of Rosalía de Castro: Cantos de independencia e liberdade (1837-1863), first volume of the biography published by Editorial Galaxia. In a rigorous way and in spite of the many difficulties in the documentation of the life of Rosalía de Castro, Lama enters in the life of the author beyond the prejudices that have influenced the previous biographical accounts. The volume addresses her family origins without trauma, the author's education and ideological training, as well as her efforts to become an actress and later a professional writer in a social environment of change and ideological boom in politics and culture. This first volume includes an approximation to her first works until the publication of Cantares Gallegos.
