Coordinated by Rodrigo Andrés and Dolores Resano, from the Centre Dona i Literatura, the objective of the course "El plaer de la lectura. Les escriptores de les Amèriques" is to analyze key women writers from Canada, United States, Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, the Andes, Brazil and the Southern Cone in order to establish literary links between the different linguistic and cultural traditions of the continent. This literary journey will put forward an understanding of how these women and their literary contributions construct, problematize, widen, enrich transform and/or de-construct the cultural collective imagination of the Americas, by touching upon key questions of the American experience, such as the European colonization, the relationship with the aboriginal culture, the geography, the local, international and global politics, the national constructions and the identity discourses within the different nations of the continent. The researchers from the Centre Dona i Literatura Cristina Alsina, Dolores Resano and Andrea Ruthven, as well as Pere Comellas, Dunia Gras, Maria Grau, Inés Ivorra Harrison and Tania Pleitez (Universitat de Barcelona), and Beatriz Ferrús and Fernanda Bustamante (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona) will participate.
