The book Differences in Common. Gender, Vulnerability and Community (Rodopi, 2014), edited by the researchers at the Centre Dona i Literatura Joana Sabadell-Nieto and Marta Segarra, is to be presented at the Instituto Internacional de Madrid. The presentation wil be headed by Inés Alberdi and Esteban Hernández, as well as the editors. This volume engages with the concept of "community", explores its subversive potential from the perspective of heterogeneity and distance in order to avoid totalizing gazes, and examines its philosophical and political aspects from the perspective of gender or vulnerability. The theoretical reflection is complemented by the analysis of literary, filmic and artistic texts which, due to their singularity, avoid commonplace assumptions. Contributors in this volume, in addition to the editors, include Judith Butler, Rada Iveković, Gayatri C. Spivak and the researchers at the Centre Dona i Literatura Rodrigo Andrés, Isabel Clúa, Helena González Fernández and Joana Masó, among others.
