Helena González, new director of the Centre Dona i Literatura

The Centre Dona i Literatura (Center for Women and Literature) has chosen a new director to replace Marta Segarra, who has had this role for the past nine years. Effective January 15, 2013, the new director is Helena González Fernández, an associate professor in Galician literature at the Universitat de Barcelona who has published extensively on the topics of critical literary feminism, popular culture, contemporary Galician literature and cultural relations between Galicia and Catalonia. Her most recent works include editing the volumes Canon y subversión. La obra narrativa de Rosalía de Castro (with María do Cebreiro Rábade Villar; Icaria 2012), and Máxima audiencia. Cultura popular y género (with Isabel Clúa; Icaria, 2011), as well as the essays Género y nación. La construcción de un espacio literario (Icaria, 2009), and Elas e o paraugas totalizador. Escritoras, xénero e nación (Xerais, 2005), and articles in collected works such as Mujer, creación y exilio (Icaria, 2009), Escrituras de la sexualidad (Icaria, 2008) and Políticas del deseo (Icaria, 2007), among others. Marta Segarra will continue as coordinator of the Càtedra Unesco Women, development and cultures (Universitat de Barcelona).
