De madres y de expertos: saber/poder en el discurso 'psi' sobre el cuidado materno
The Seminari Filosofia i Gènere, of the Consolidated Research Group (GRC) Creació i Pensament de les Dones, has organized the thesis workshop for Claudia Cualquín Donoso, CONYCIT (Chile) scholarship student at the Universitat de Barcelona and researcher with the Seminari Filosofia i Gènere (UB). Her doctoral thesis "De madres y de expertos: saber/poder en el discurso 'psi' sobre el cuidado materno", directed by Fina Birulés, takes the work of Michel Foucault as a starting point for an analysis of the conditions of possibility in contemporary "psy" discourse on maternal care. The hypothesis proposes that the generated norms, meanings and even feelings are less spontaneous practices enacted by mothers than they are the effects of historically situated relations of knowledge/power and a social practice through which psychology is constructed as device for normalcy and subjectivity. The thesis workshop, directed by Rosa Rius Gatell and coordinated by Georgina Rabassó, is an innovative teaching experience which consists in sharing the research trajectory during the doctoral dissertation phase.
