Under the title "Uscronies i cultura popular", two seminars of defectors and pariahs are being organized to deal with the literary and filmic representation of exclusion and gender in 20th century popular culture. In the first session, Katarzyna Moszczyńska-Dürst (Uniwersytet Warzawski) will study the figures of defectors and pariahs in Galician science-fiction written by women, whereas Andrea Ruthven (ADHUC-Universitat de les Illes Balears) will analyze the affective afrofuturisms in speculative fiction. During the second session, Isabel Clúa Ginés (ADHUC-Universidad de Sevilla) will delve into the figures of exclusion in fantasy. All three interventions will engage in dialogue with Helena González (ADHUC-Universitat de Barcelona) and Pau Freixa (Universitat de Barcelona).
This activity is a result of the funded programs "Tránsfugas y parias" (FEM2017-83974-P MINECO/AEI/FEDER, UE) and "Cine y medioambiente" (PID2019-110068GA-I00 AEI / 10.13039/501100011033). Attendance by invitation.
