Sexual difference. A practical ontology?
The research seminar “Diferència sexual - una ontologia pràctica?”, which will take place twice a month between October and December 2021, has the purpose of focusing on the topic of sexual difference, with its richness and its constitutive openness. Each session of the seminar will be organized around a presentation in which one of the multiple perspectives on sexual difference will be explored. These presentations will be followed by a time for comments, questions and a debate. Organized by three predoctoral researchers - Teresa Hoogeveen (ADHUC—Universitat de Barcelona), Alina Mierlus (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona) i Andrea Ugalde (Universitat de Barcelona) -, the seminar is grounded on the intuition that questioning sexual difference is still a fundamental key of intelligibility in the process of tackling some categories of our occidental tradition. Hence the seminar offers, among other options, to turn sexual difference into a praxis or to considerate its relationship with ontological difference.
This activity will count on the interventions of Anne E. Berger (Cornell University / Université Paris 8), Alejandra Castillo (Universidad Metropolitana de Ciencias de la Educación), Stefarnia Ferrando (EHESS), Núria Sara Miras Boronat (Universitat de Barcelona) and Begonya Saez Tajafuerce (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona).
The seminar will be held online though Zoom. To participate, you must confirm your assistance by sending an email to s.diferenciasexual@gmail.com.
