The Research Workshop "Racial Constructions in Early Modern Spain (I)", organized by Diana Berruezo-Sánchez (ADHUC-Universitat de Barcelona), focuses on the construction of race in early modern Iberia. It explores racial constructions from an interdisciplinary standpoint and brings to the conversation scholars of History, Visual Studies and Linguistics. This is the beginning of an ongoing research discussion on the processes that shaped the notions of Blackness in Iberia. Hosted in the Making of Blackness project, the workshop includes the following speakers: Chloe Ireton (University College London); Anna Espínola-Lynn and Erica Feild-Marchello (University of Oxford); Kevin Munuera Pulido (Universitat de Barcelona).
By invitation only.
